Secretariat
The Secretary General is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership while managing the day to day operations of PGEU and its ongoing relationships with its member associations and other stakeholders, as well as representing the community pharmacy sector in various European and national forums. The Secretary General is appointed by the General Assembly.
A pharmacist by training, Jorge is responsible for the PGEU activities concerning professional related issues and liaising with PGEU members and stakeholders on these topics. Other specific responsibilities are to further develop the relationship of PGEU with EMA, with other pharmacy and health professional associations and with parts of the Commission dealing with public health and pharmaceuticals.
Economic Affairs is responsible for the PGEU initiatives related to health economics and policy. They monitor EU policies in the areas of EU economic governance and health systems resilience and sustainability. Moreover, they produce data-driven analyses of market developments in the healthcare and pharmacy sector, to advice PGEU members and to inform PGEU policy positions. they also contribute to develop PGEU relationships with stakeholders and institutions, including with the European Commission and the OECD.
The Legal Advisor analyses EU Policy and advises PGEU Members on the impact and consequences for the pharmacy profession of relevant European political and legislative initiatives. The Legal Advisor is responsible for the monitoring of EU policy developments, legislation and proposals.
The Office Manager ensures the smooth day-to-day running of the office and provides direct support to the Secretary General. They coordinate the office agenda, assists the PGEU staff in their daily work, and play a key role in the organisation of PGEU events, General Assemblies and internal meetings. They also serve as the main point of contact for PGEU’s working contacts and members and manages the PGEU website.
The Stagiaire at PGEU is member of the European Pharmaceutical Students’ Association (EPSA) team, who offers the perspective on the Pharmacy profession from the students’ point of view.
